IWB activity! Food chain...


HELLO! We are Anna Molina, Gemma Ceballos and Paula Buenaventura, AKA “the dream team”!!!!!
We have a proposal for the 3rd grade of primary to teach FOOD CHAINS, using the Interactive WhiteBoard...Hope you like it and find it useful!!!!


TOPIC

Food Chain!!!

CONTEXT

·       This session is intended for students of 3rd of primary
·    The students have learned previously that a food chain shows how each living thing gets food, and how nutrients and energy are passed from creature to creature. Food chains begin with plant-life, and end with animal-life.



OBJECTIVES

1.    Identify the characteristics of a food chain
2.    Work in collaborative groups and solve problems
3.    Participate in activities that require critical thinking.
4.    Participate in activities requiring ICT knowledge.

CONTENIDOS, CAMPETENCIAS Y PROCESOS QUE SE TRABAJAN DE FORMA DESTACADA

1.    Use of information in order to state a clear opinion.
2.    Connect ideas and skills in real-life situations.
3.    Collaborative pair and small group’s promotion and problem solving

DESCRIPTION OF THE PROPOSAL

First the students will revise the vocabulary learned previously by playing a game of memory. As a second activity, the teacher will present a game in the IWB (Interactive White board) where students will have to place the animals in the correct order on the food chain. Finally as a closure activity, each group will have to present their work and explain the reasons of their choices.

DESCRIPTION OF THE IMPLEMENTATION

MATERIAL:

·      Notebook document
·      Smart board

CLASS MANAGEMENT:

The class will be divided in small teams or groups, in order that everyone have a chance to participate in the games. Through the memory game, students will discover the topic of the session.

EVALUATION:

The teacher will assess the students based on these aspects:

1.    Communicative abilities and uses of English
2.    Proficiency in the use of the IWB
3.    Attitude towards learning
4.    Behavior in classroom

  1. Thanks for your activity, you are the first one this year! Just a quick comment. The link with the material cannot be accessed, you need to share the document with "anyone with link". It is very good you use titles to make the post more organised although after the title the size of the font should be the same all through the blog entry.
