Session 6 and 7: Integration of the work with iPads in the class

Dear classmates,

During this term in the ICT classes we have learnt a lot of resources and different programs and apps that can be really interesting for the English classroom. But today, in the following lines and regarding our session 6 and 7 (Integration of the work with iPads in the class). One of the apps that I’ve enjoyed the most during this term is Puppet Pals, and I’ve used it with my kids.

Puppet pals:
It is a story telling app to retell stories. The children achieve many aspects of their communication & Language development points from this self – chosen activity and demonstrate many speaking skills.
Through this app, you can share stories, songs but also you can plan ideas because it can be used in many non – fiction forms too (recording scientific or mathematic ideas by moving pieces as characters around with a background for categorising or solving problems).

How Puppet Pals Works:

1.       Firs of all, you have to select characters.

  2.       Selecting backgrounds

  3.       Recording the story and your ideas.
You have the option to bring your own characters and backgrounds as well. This, includes using the camera to capture images of yourself.

Price: Free. It has to be paid the Puppet Pals HD directors edition (2.99), because this upgrade from the free version allows users to bring their own characters and background.

Platforms: Ipod, Iphone, Ipad…

Skills: Communication, Collaboration, Creativity

Purpose: Kids can learn how each part of the creative process works to form a story as they make decisions about which backgrounds and characters to use in each scene, how to size them and move them around, and which audio to record.

Then, I am going to share with you and Educator’s Guide to Puppet Pals Lesson, from Curriculum Department of Instructional Technology.

Hope you enjoy this app in class!

Marta
