Memory Game!

Hello everyone, I'm Esther and I want to share with you my proposal for the ICT class using computers. I hope you enjoy it and it can be a useful resource for you.

TOPIC: Memory Game.
The activity allows you to choose between different topics as clothes, jobs, body parts, food among other subjects.

CONTEXT
The activity is concerned for students from first key stage (5 to 8 years old). After introducing a new topic or unit and have worked on it during some sessions, the following activity can be introduced as a way to reinforce the acquisition of new learning vocabulary or also as a revising or assessing task at the end of the unit. Using new technologies can be a good way to motivate students and know about others issues around them.

CONTENT OBJECTIVES

- Work on the new learning vocabulary.
- Identify and relate sounds and the sound with the image.
- Reinforce the short and long term memory.
- Be able to use new technologies.

LANGUAGE OBJECTIVE
- Work on the key vocabulary.
- Association between written and oral skills.

COMPETENCES (competències básiques de llengües estrangeres)

1.         Dimensió comunicació oral
2.         Dimensió comprensió lectora

DESCRIPTION OF THE PROPOSAL
We are going to split the group in pairs. Each pair is going to use one computer and headphones for each student. The teacher will provide the web page to the students were they must choose the jobs content, worked previously in class. The game provides white squares which you have to click on and a word or an image is going to be shown at the same time an oral support is going to be provided. They will have to click on each square to guess where the pair is and match them.
This activity can be done in pairs or individually. It can be appropriate to let the students play in pairs the first times and after understanding the dynamic let them do it individually.

DESCRIPTION OF THE IMPLEMENTATION

MATERIALS:
- ICT class
- Computer connected to the internet.
- Headphones

EVALUATION:
- Understanding of the key vocabulary
- Association between sounds, images and letters (oral, written and listening skills)

ASSESMENT:
The teacher will assess the students learning’s. After playing to the game the teacher can prepare an activity where the pupils have to use the key vocabulary in a sentence and verify if they understand and know the different meanings and how to use them.
As an assessment activity, the computer game, can be also used for the teacher but focusing his/her attention in two or three pairs checking if they really understand the vocabulary and also the game dynamic or they doing it without any sense. Otherwise a little square located at the bottom where the word “turns” is write can help the teacher to know how many tries have the students done.

Using Genially in the Science class

The students in the 3rd Key Stage have studied the invertebrate animals. As a global revision, the teacher proposes to create a digital compilation of interactive pictures containing information about these animals.
The students will use the website Genially, that offers a wide range of templates to create interactive material. In this occasion, each group of students will create an interactive picture of the type of animal chosen.

As a second activity, the teacher will present a YouTube video of the wild animals where students have to listen actively in order to be able to complete the next activity.
